HTML

HyperText Markup Language is the language that makes the web.

HTML is written with tags. Tags describe what content is on a webpage. If you go to any website you can right-click and select "Inspect" to see the HTML that created that page.

Here are some common HTML tags:

<html>
<body>
<h1>Title</h1>
<p>This is a paragraph</p>
</body>
</html>

This will create:

Title

This is a paragraph

You can also include images, videos, and other types of content:

<img src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/54/20131203_kitten_B.jpg/1200px-20131203_kitten_B.jpg" alt="kitten" width=250/>

Displays this:

kitten

You can also include comments in your HTML. Comments are ignored by the computer. Programmers often do this so people will know why something was done a certain way. HTML comments look like this:

<p>Hello,</p>
<!-- this is a comment -->
<p>Welcome to the internet.</p>

This will display:

Hello,

Welcome to the internet.
